My Self Care: Building a Self Care Practice

Sign up or log in to save this to your schedule and see who's attending!

Entrepreneurs bring so much value to societies. They create the vast majority of new jobs, pull economies out of recessions, introduce useful products and services, and create prosperity. At the same time, entrepreneurs are at a higher risk for mental health problems, with over 40% being diagnosed with a mental illness. Because mental health is still a taboo subject, many entrepreneurs are fighting battles in the dark with no tools to help them. Developing a self-care practice, one that focuses on balancing our home life, personal health, and work, helps us to be more productive instead of just being busy. We are the ones that show up at our businesses everyday so it's important that our mental health is in an optimal state.

Self care practices have been used by entrepreneurs for years to help them become more productive. However, many entrepreneurs, who know they need self-care, don't begin a self-care/mindfulness practice because they don't know how, or feel they don't have time. In this workshop, we will create a self-care and mindfulness practice that is simple and do-able for the average person.

As the entrepreneur sector grows, more people are going to become burned out with building their businesses. As we grow our businesses, if we aren't coming from a mindset of overall well-being for generations, the things we are building will collapse in about 20 years. It's important to be centered in our daily lives to get the most out of our businesses are we are the ones who show up everyday. Creating a self-care practice, even a short one, can help with managing stress and anxiety, lessen the effects of deeper mental health challenges like depression, and ultimately makes us more productive. It also brings forward the topic of mental illness and makes it less taboo to talk about, ultimately making it less embarrassing to get professional help.

People get to learn how to build a self-care/mindfulness practice to help them better manage stress and anxiety in any field of work.
