Kattni is a tech geek and nerd-herder extraordinaire. She is a champion of Open Source Software and has hosted local hackathons. She has over 15 years of customer service experience in technology and healthcare. She spends her time doing freelance photography, making unique jewelry and knitting useful creations.

Kattni joined HackerNest as a Detroit City Organiser in January 2017. HackerNest is a nonprofit organisation that builds local tech communities around the world through events like down-to-earth tech socials and socially beneficial hackathons. Kattni sees it as "open-sourcing" people and believes the mission will connect the members of the diverse group that makes up Detroit with each other and with all of the amazing resources available. The goal is to create a centralised location for information from the tech community, such as job opportunities, classes, events, local groups and more. Building up Detroit starts with building up its people.

This Tech Social marks the 1 year anniversary of HackerNest Detroit. The first Tech Social held in Detroit was hosted by Detroi Startup Week 2016. The Detroit Organisers are incredibly excited to celebrate their first year by joining Detroit Startup Week again in 2017. They're grateful to everyone who has joined so far and are looking forward to another amazing year!
